Portland lawyer Chris Harmon is a world-class long distance runner. (Top Maine runner in Boston Marathon last year). He joined the Maine Bar association three years ago. Recently, he handled a case on behalf of a person who was out for a run one day. The person got his by a motor vehicle that was driving too fast, and recklessly. Catastrophic injuries. Chris filed suit for the victim. Defendant defaulted, and no insurance coverage available from the defendant. But Chris put the time in, requested a damages hearing in front of Justice Nancy Mills—and apparently did an excellent job; the judge issued an opinion this week with a $1.6 M award for the victim.
